Pensioners, people on Newstart and supporters of all ages are invited to join a Justice for Pensioners rally at 11am on Wednesday 10 July on the steps of State Parliament House.
The rally has been called by the Fair Go for Pensioners Coalition to remind the State Government that it is getting increasingly hard for pensioners to make ends meet. The State Government has not acted to increase concession discounts for utilities or reduce public transport costs. Escalating power and water costs are a crushing burden.
Increasing numbers of people reliant on the age pension and allowances such as Newstart are experiencing income poverty. There is a widening gap between their living standards and those of others in our community.
The rally will demand that both State and Federal governments provide a decent standard of living for those marginalised by income poverty.
