COTA Victoria is pleased to announce that CEO Sue Hendy will join a panel including Father Bob Maguire AM at Melbourne Town Hall on 28 August to discuss the facts and the fictions of ageing, celebrate the benefits of growing older and ask what a truly age-friendly Melbourne would look like.
Regular host Peter Mares’ guests include Professor Collette Browning, Head of Primary Care Research Unit at Monash University; Ms Marion Lau OAM JP, a People of Australia Ambassador, Community Representative Commissioner, Victorian Multicultural Commission and Chinese Ministerial Consultative Committee Member; and Prof Brian Howe AO, Professorial Associate, Centre for Public Policy, University of Melbourne.
Bob Maguire is an Australian Catholic priest, community worker and media personality. In his younger days he used to be a beekeeper, which he describes as “one of the finest periods of my life”.
Brian Howe was a Federal Cabinet Minister from 1984 to 1996. In 2011 he was a member of the government’s advisory panel on the Economic Potential of Senior Australians, which produced the report Turning Grey into Gold.
Colette Browning is recognised as a national and international leader in psychology and health. Her research focuses on healthy ageing and improving quality of life for older people.
Marion Lau is a director of her own management consultancy, with a focus on aged care, ethnic aged and migrant women’s health and well-being.
