Funeral & Burial Instruction Review

Who should decide what happens to a person’s body when they die?

Currently in Victoria, the funeral and burial instructions of a deceased person are not legally binding on the person who organises their funeral.

The Victorian Law Reform Commission is reviewing the law and invites responses from the community.

The Victorian Law Reform Commission will hold public consultations in Melbourne and regional Victoria from November to January.

Anyone can make a submission to this review. Submissions are due by 21 December 2015.
