Bunurong Memorial Park – a memorial park for the future, a destination for the community

On 11 January 2016, the doors of the Southern Aurora Centre at Bunurong Memorial Park opened for the first time. Designed to meet the needs of the growing and diverse communities in the south- east, this memorial park of the future has already welcomed thousands of visitors.

This stunning development is part of the first stage of a 50 year masterplan created by Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (SMCT). It includes a suite of new facilities, with Reflection Spaces and Function Rooms. The on-site café and florist, Café Vita et flores, has a full lunch menu and is open from 9am to 3pm seven days a week.

Bunurong Memorial Park is also a park land with beautifully landscaped native gardens inviting reflection and relaxation, providing visitors with the option for recreation in a safe environment.

The beauty and serenity of the grounds offer a range of opportunities to share memories and remember loved ones, in keeping with SMCT’s commitment to serve and support communities to honour and celebrate life.

SMCT are delighted to be providing guided community tours of the new Southern Aurora Centre.

The community tours will commence in March 2016, and each participant receives a $15 tour and lunch voucher.

Enquiries and bookings can be made by email to tours@smct.org.au or phone 03) 8523 1617. Group bookings are able to be made.

We look forward to welcoming you to this stunning new community destination.

Bunurong Memorial Park is located just off Eastlink on Frankston-Dandenong Road in Dandenong South.

Jane Grover, CEO of SMCT: ‘’We are excited to be able to present this contemporary memorial park like no other, which we anticipate will be visited and enjoyed by Victorians for generations to come. This multipurpose community asset has been designed in consultation with our growing communities, and reflects the changing perspectives on honouring and celebrating life.’’
