We commit to an age-friendly Victoria!
On the 14 April 2016 we joined Martin Foley MP, Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing, the Municipal Association of Victoria and other like-minded organisations in committing to an age-friendly Victoria.
We signed an Age-Friendly Victoria Declaration: Statement of Support and Partner Endorsement as part of the Minister’s launch of the Commissioner for Senior Victorian’s report Ageing is everyone’s business. At the same event, the Victorian Government formally signed the Age-Friendly Declaration with the Municipal Association of Victoria.
The Ageing is everyone’s business report by the Commissioner, Gerard Mansour, reveals that social isolation and loneliness is a significant issue for Victoria’s ageing population. The newly launched Age-Friendly Victoria initiative is part of the Government’s response, recognizing that age-friendly communities encourage active ageing and boost good health, security and community participation for Victorian seniors.
Our commitment is to promote the inclusion of older people in our thinking and practices to enhance the quality of life for people as they age.
