Who the hell cares about this sort of feelgood nonsense? Where do I find any serious attempts to enable people who are on a pension, and have contributed greatly to putting this country on the map, a decent rise in income? I’ve recently had a rise, which, if I continue to support my local pharmacy, effectively aborts that rise! Our minimum wage is about to go up by 2.4%….when will we pensioners see something akin to this….I suspect never.

Thank you for this. Now that we have a Federal Election in a month’s time we can lobby hard for an increase in the pension. This is what COTA is doing. Join our election campaign where you can register your views on issues and policies: http://olderaustraliansvote.org.au./
There are a number of organisations working hard to increase the pension including Fair Go for Pensioners: http://www.fgfpcoalition.com/
