Assisted dying laws will be introduced to the Victorian parliament next year

This afternoon, Premier Daniel Andrews has announced the government will develop legislation for assisted dying in 2017.
The government has responded to the 49 recommendations made by the Parliamentary Inquiry into end-of-life choices inquiry. In response to the call for an Assisted Dying legislative framework, the Victorian Government wants a review into how assisted dying would work in Victoria.
The Inquiry report, delivered to parliament in June this year, considered 1037 submissions and made 49 recommendations. In the following link you can read the full response of the Victorian Government.
COTA will consider the Government’s response on Physician Assisted Dying and support older people to be well informed and able to participate in the ensuing debates.
