Social Networking for Older Migrants

When older migrants move to a new country there are often many opportunities as well as challenges. These challenges can be worse as they deal with major social and cultural differences related to living in a new country.

Social technology can lessen the stress many older migrants experience.  Social network applications like Facebook, Twitter, WeChat and Snapchat can offer older migrants the opportunity to maintain social support from their countries of origin and their local communities.

This study, being conducted at Melbourne University will interview older people who have migrated to Australia to find out about their experiences and opinions in using social network applications.
