Respect Public Dentistry So Everyone Can Smile

In Victoria, 41%, or 2.5 million Victorians access the public dental health system but did you know that in the public dental health system people are waiting

–          16.5 months for general dental care?

–          15 months for dentures?

–          2.5 months for priority dentures care?

Poor oral health can cause other health problems such as diabetes and heart disease. Good oral health is critical to avoiding tooth decay, pain, being able to eat all types of food, and even social inclusion. Good oral health is essential to overall good general health

Funding for public dental care is unpredictable and insufficient. This is in resulting in long waiting times.

Professionals Australia and the Australian Dental Association Victoria Branch (ADAVB) are running a public awareness campaign and are looking for case studies

Do you, or do you know someone who would be willing to share their experiences (both good and bad) with the public dental system?

To share your story contact Aleysia Leonard, Lead Organiser, Phone: 9695 8895, Email:

More information about the campaign can be found on the ADAVB website and in the Issues Paper.
