When Something is Wrong – Preventing Elder Abuse

Carers Victoria is the state-wide voice for family and friend carers, representing and providing support to carers across Victoria.

Carers provide care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is an older person with care needs.

We work closely with government and other support organisations to improve the lives of caring families throughout Victoria.

Every person deserves to be safe from harm. Some older people can be particularly vulnerable. Most of the care of older family members is provided by other trusted family members, and many older people are caring for their spouses or partners or adult sons and daughters with disability or mental illness.

Carers Victoria wants care relationships to be healthy and all people in care relationships to feel safe.

But sometimes something is not quite right or something goes wrong and harm is caused intentionally or unintentionally.

Carers Victoria has received funding to develop and implement harm prevention materials. As part of our research we are conducting an online survey about preferred information materials and delivery by people in older-age care relationships.

So as to gain a broad section of responses to inform this project, you might be interested in contributing to this.

If you are an older carer, or if you care for an older person, or a family member or friend assists you, Carers Victoria would appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey.
