At the Municipal Association of Victoria’s (MAV) ‘Age-friendly Communities in the New Ageing Context’ conference held on November 30th the Age-Friendly Cities and Communities Information Kit for Local Government Councillors and Senior Management’ was launched.
Sharon Granek, Manager of the Community Participation team at COTA spoke about the project to over 70 Council representatives attending this event.
Why was the Information Kit produced?
People across Victoria are living longer and healthier lives and making a significant contribution to their families, the community, and the economy. To ensure this contribution can continue, we need to ensure that our communities are ‘Age Friendly’. The Information Kit developed by COTA Vic and MAV with funds from a RACV community grant will support local government to make their community ‘Age Friendly’, an inclusive place for people of all ages to live in.
The Kit asks Councillors and senior management to lead and activate a whole of council response to create an inclusive community.
