Ken honoured in 2018 Jagajaga Australia Day Awards

COTA Victoria’s fantastic volunteer Ken Ramplin was a recent recipient of the Jagajaga Community’s Australia Day Awards.

Ken was recognised for his involvement and hard work in establishing three Older Men: New Ideas (OM:NI) groups, one in Diamond Creek, the others in Eltham and Hurstbridge.

Over 70 men regularly attend the OM:NI  fortnightly meetings which assist men to make new friends, reunite with the community and build their confidence again.

Ken, aged 78, has also established the “Ken’s Pedal against Prostate”, a riding group raising funds to find a cure for prostate cancer.

He was presented with the award on Australia Day by the Member for Jagajaga, Jenny Macklin MP.

Ms Macklin said the awards recognise the efforts of individuals and groups who selflessly volunteer their time and effort to make our community and our nation a better place.

COTA Victoria is pleased to extend its congratulations to Ken on this well deserved accolade.

A great guy. This award is well-deserved. The men of OMNI in the Diamond Valley love and respect Ken for his tireless work establishing OMNI groups in our area. He has given us new social contacts, so valuable in our senior years.
