Victoria joins This Girl Can fitness campaign

VicHealth is supporting This Girl Can campaign to inspire more Victorian women to become more active.

The Victorian campaign is based on Sport England’s highly successful This Girl Can campaign which motivated more than 3.9 million women in England to take their fitness into their own hands.

Phrases like `sweat and jiggle’ and `unleash your inner beginner’ dot the English campaign website, empowering women to become more physically active regardless of their ability or body shape.

Victorian women have told the campaign organisers that a big part of not trying new activities or getting involved in sport is a fear of being judged, or not being fit enough to start. Not to mention, twice as many women than men put off getting active because they’re worried about what other people think. VicHealth is promoting that all sports, gyms and moving your body are for everybody (literally, every body).

Want to get involved? Learn how you can inspire more women to get more active: register to access the This Girl Can – Victoria Promotional Toolkit, or download the free guide to help you create more welcoming environments for women.

Alternatively, older women (and men) can join a COTA Victoria Living Longer Living Stronger program in their local area. Anyone interested in becoming more physically active is advised to first check their health status and appropriate forms of exercise with their doctor.

In the meantime, be inspired by the This Girl Can campaign advertisement.
