Free Information Sessions at COTA

Seniors Information (COTA) Victoria provides information sessions to groups throughout Victoria and also in our beautiful office located in the heart of CBD! These sessions are open to public, are free of charge and anyone can participate.

Upcoming topics include:

1. Downsizing is it a good idea?
Thursday 21 June 2018 – 10:00 am to 11.30 am
Speaker: Arati Vidyasagar, COTA Victoria
Older Australians have a range of options for appropriate and affordable housing should they decide to leave the family home. But is downsizing always a good idea? Are there options that would suit you better?

2. Aged Care Services – How I navigated the system
Thursday 21 June 2018 – 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm
Speaker: Kirsty Chalmers, COTA Volunteer
Arranging for subsidised help at home for yourself or a loved one can be challenging. Come along to this talk for a first-person account of one family’s journey through the system.

3. Your health records online: learn more
Tuesday, 24 July 2018 – 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
Speaker: Eileen Khaw, Northern Metropolitan Primary Health Network
My Health Record is a Government initiative that allows all your important health information to be digitally available in one secure location. Information such as allergies, medical conditions, medications, test or scan reports can be stored on the My Health Record. Having a My Health Record means your doctors, specialists, pharmacists and hospital staff may be able to access your information if they need to, like in an accident or emergency. If you would like more information or clarification, this talk is for you.

4. The Great Getaway: Camping for over 55s!
Monday, 9 July – 11:00 am to 12:30 pm
Speaker: Alan Bull, Australian Camps Association
If you love camping but can’t be bothered wrestling with a tent, come and hear about the camping trips that are organised for you by Australian Camps Association (ASC). ASC has trips and activities specifically designed for people over the age of 55, including lots of outdoor programs with indoor accommodation.
