Are you an experienced policy person?

Are you an experienced policy person? Have you worked in government, health or the community sector? Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of older people through policy advocacy?

COTA Victoria is currently recruiting for its new Policy Development Committee (PDC). We are looking for people who have an understanding of the range of issues facing people as they age, and who will promote COTA Victoria’s mission to advance the rights, interests and futures of older Victorians.

As a member of the Policy Development Committee you will be part of a small active group that will work with COTA Victoria’s policy team in setting the strategic direction of our policy advocacy and engagement work. You will be involved in responding to a range of government and external body requests for policy submissions, consultations and representation.

Our policy work includes engaging with older people in their communities and the voice of older people informs our submissions, report writing and advocacy. The PDC, as an Advisory Committee to the COTA Victoria Board, reports bi-monthly on policy recommendations and work. As a PDC member you will be asked to consider requests for policy submissions and identify key issues for advocacy and engagement with older people. You may have one or more areas of policy interest or expertise and you will feel confident in writing and editing parts of submissions.

If you are interested in committing some of your time to COTA Victoria in this important role, please contact Victoria Wells on 9655 2140 or vwells@cotvic.org.au, or Donna Swan on 9655 2139 or dswan@cotavic.org.au for an Expression of Interest form and an information pack, including a membership form (if you are not already a COTA Victoria member).

If you are not successful in applying for this position we encourage all applicants to consider volunteering in other programs and valued roles at COTA Victoria.
