Do you have issues that you feel passionate about? Do you want to voice your passion? Do you want someone to hear? COTA Victoria are looking for people to be MP liaisons.
If you would like to talk to your MP, and the other candidates, standing at the Victorian State Election on 24 November 2018 we would like to hear from to you!
All the COTA branches across Australia advocate and develop policy with and for older people. To do this we engage with older people in a many different ways. On November 24. the Victoria State election is being held. This is the electorate’s opportunity to voice their opinions, statewide. At COTA we would like those aged over 50 to campaign on issues that affect them.
With older people advocating on their own behalf it is easier to demonstrate to government, and prospective MPs, the level of support and investment in programs and services, or changes to policy. Think how effective Get Up! Is.
So, we need you!
We want to work with you to become an advocate for COTA, and all older people across Victoria. But don’t worry, you will not be on your own. COTA will support all MP liaison volunteers by providing briefing notes and information about each policy area and electorate. You can choose the issue you want to engage with, you do not have to tackle them all. We are particularly eager to hear from people in marginal electors or if you are in a ministerial seat.
