The draft Residential Tenancies Regulations achieves a number of improvements in the safety, affordability and rights of tenants. We commend the Victorian government on introducing bond limits, minimum standards, family violence protection and broadening what is now included under urgent repairs. However the final Residential Tenancies Regulations (RTA) 2020 must prioritise the health and safety of Victorians. COTA Victoria is concerned over the limited scope of minimum standards, the lack of energy efficiency standards and the conditions set for modifications. The final Residential Tenancies Regulations (RTA) 2020 must prioritise the health and safety of Victorians.
