Happy birthday to us! The festival of 70 is about to start. COTA Victoria is turning 70 on 30 April, and we want to celebrate all things 70. Seventy years is a big milestone for an organisation – we must be doing something right to have survived this long! While we will look back on a few of our achievements and forward to the next 70 years, we also want to celebrate the here and now.
In a fast-paced world where everything is moving online and choices are made instantly with the swipe of a finger, we at COTA Victoria are making sure that there’s still time for a cup of tea and a biscuit. The benefits of good conversation and a network of friends can never be underestimated. Maybe we should have a session on the best biscuits to go with our tea? My preferences (of course I have more than one!) are Ginger Nuts – because you can dunk for longer without it breaking into your tea – and, if I’m alone (because it’s messy), a Tim Tam with opposite corners bitten off so I can suck the tea/coffee/Baileys through the chocolatey goodness.
What do we have in store for you this month? OM:NI men’s discussion groups continue to share their stories – this month it’s a tale about rebuilding a car. But that’s not all they have been up to. Ken McMaster and Ron Micaleff were interviewed by Paul Strickland from 3bbr FM in West Gippsland, promoting all of the benefits that OM:NI men’s discussion groups offers. For more information on our Men’s Discussion Group, visit our website. Living Longer Living Stronger is highlighting all of the reasons why 70 is a fabulous time to be alive and our COTA WISE information sessions are now back to in-person sessions – hurry and book yours today.
And did you hear that we’ve finally moved into our new offices? While we unpack and settle in, we’re looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming all of you from 3rd May.
You may want to grab a cup of tea and a biscuit – or biscuits! – before you read any further so you can enjoy all the team at COTA Victoria have for you.
Keep safe.
Is there someone you think might want to know what COTA Victoria is up to and would enjoy COTA Connects? Please feel free to share it with them.
