In May and June, Firmer Foundations are holding a number of free workshops to increase women’s money management skills, financial security and independence. Firmer Foundations aims to increase women’s financial wellbeing and reduce their risk of entering or returning to violent or abusive relationships. They do this by building women’s agency to address personal and structural economic barriers. Firmer Foundations responds to the financial disempowerment and vulnerability of women by providing targeted financial capability development and support to increase financial skills, knowledge and confidence and to enable access to resources for economic participation and financial stability. A critical component of Firmer Foundations is the coaching approach that affirms women’s strengths and skills, supporting them to identify and achieve their own goals, as experts in their own life.
Firmer Foundations has a strong focus on the evaluation of its outcomes, intended to increase women’s safety and wellbeing in the longer term, as women become less vulnerable to economic abuse and other forms of family violence. Firmer Foundations works in partnership with other women’s services, using a co-facilitation model to co-deliver workshops and groups.
