On this International Volunteers Day, Sunday 5 December, we want to acknowledge the incredible efforts of our amazing volunteers. As Victoria comes out of lockdown and we leave behind a challenging time, we feel it is more important than ever to recognise our volunteers’ valuable work at COTA Victoria.
This year, we’ve had to cut back on many of our activities due to lockdowns and extended uncertainty. Even so, our team of 80+ volunteers has supported us to deliver over 20 programs across all areas of COTA Victoria – from policy, health and wellbeing, community education and elder abuse through to organisational operations and governance. Together, these programs play a vital role in bringing respect, dignity, and opportunity to older Victorians. For your dedication and perseverance — we thank you.
This year’s International Volunteers Day theme is ‘Volunteer now for our common future.’ As we rebuild and look forward to a new future, our work to support older Victorians has never been more relevant and important. We need our volunteers more than ever to support the vital work we do.
In the new year, we look forward to welcoming back existing volunteers and bringing new faces on board, as we work together to build better and richer programs, informed and championed by our fantastic volunteers.
