The Victorian Aged Care Response Centre has been established to coordinate and expand resources to tackle the ongoing challenge of COVID-19 in aged care services. A key focus of the centre is to unify the effort across every aspect of the aged care sector during the pandemic.
The centre has staff from both Commonwealth and Victorian state government agencies. They are working together to manage the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in aged care facilities.
The Plan for the Victorian Residential Aged Care Sector provides guidelines to help Residential Aged Care Facilities to support their workers, residents, families and visitors to prepare for, prevent and manage cases and outbreaks of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The plan includes information about residents’ rights to have visitors, outings, external appointments and much more. We encourage anybody who has a loved one living in residential aged care to read the plan and to discuss any concerns or questions with the management of the facility.
The Victorian Aged Care Response Centre website is regularly updated and provides a great overview of daily developments to improve the safety of residential aged care in response to the pandemic.
