Have your say: New discussion paper on disability support

Today too many older Victorians face unacceptable barriers in accessing disability support. Despite positive reforms in our disability and aged care systems, current programs do not provide an adequate and equitable response to those over 65 with a disability.

Council on the Ageing Victoria and Seniors Rights Victoria are pleased to present a discussion paper, Disability Supports for Older Victorians: Towards an Agenda for Action. Developed with several other peak bodies in the disability and ageing sectors, the paper sets out the situation faced by older Victorians seeking disability supports and identifies key issues to be addressed.

We are also undertaking an online community survey inviting older community members to tell us about their own experience in seeking disability supports.  The survey, which is anonymous and confidential, can be accessed here.

Responses to both the paper and the survey are open until  30 November 2024.  They will be used to inform ongoing dialogue with the Victorian Government and other key decision-makers.

Should you have any queries about this process, please do not hesitate to email us.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts on these important issues.
