Older people are experts in their own lives. Their insights can improve policy relevance, equity, accessibility, and effectiveness. The Lived Experience of Ageing (LEAP) is our mechanism to support older Victorians to engage with various opportunities in which their experience can be utilised to effect change.
The LEAP is a training and support initiative designed to help older Victorians share their lived experience and knowledge with industry, government, academia, and media. As part of the launch of our new pilot program, we’re looking to gather a small, yet extremely diverse group of older Victorians who will be able to speak across a broad variety of topics.
No matter if speaking publicly to a group of your peers, serving on a steering or working committee, or sharing your unique story with journalists is something you’re comfortable with, the LEAP will empower you to speak confidently and honestly about your own experiences.

We’ve recently hosted two information sessions about our plans for the LEAP. If you were unable to attend those sessions, we encourage you to get in touch to learn more about the program.
Express your interest in the LEAP
Are you an older Victorian passionate about issues impacting you and your peers, and wanting to share your experience and knowledge with others? The LEAP is looking for older Victorians with wide-ranging experience in issues – or a single issue – that effect their cohort.
Have you had difficulties obtaining housing in recent times? Are you finding it difficult to secure employment because of your age? Have you experienced elder abuse at the hands of a trusted friend or family member? If so — and if you’re willing to share those experiences to help others understand these issues and work to improve them — then the LEAP could be for you.
We are now taking expressions of interest from those who have reviewed information about the LEAP, including its goals.
Should you wish to express your interest in the LEAP, you can do so using the form below.
