Green Sages focus on climate change

On 10 March, COTA Green Sages held a successful meeting and seminar for COTA members and interested visitors. Over a delicious healthy lunch we discussed the effects of climate change, learning how Green Sages allows us to:

  • get together – online only, for now – to share our concerns
  • understand what we can do now to leave a better legacy for future generations
  • learn how to adapt to the increasing effects of climate change.

We were also treated to a fantastic seminar by our special guest speaker, Heather Lawson, of health promotion charity enliven. Heather explained how climate change is increasingly affecting people’s health, emphasising the biggest current risk: heat. Heat stress is dangerous, particularly for older people, but Heather showed how we can avoid the worst effects through awareness and preparation. Contact COTA Green Sages by email at askcota@cotavic.org.au for a copy of the information Heather presented.

Get involved

COTA Green Sages is a keen group of young-at-heart people aged over 50 who are concerned about climate change and our future. You’re invited to join us, as and when it suits you.

We normally meet at 12:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Physical meetings will resume in due course, but in the meantime, we plan to meet online using Zoom videoconferencing (it’s quite easy, and we can help you!). Please contact our convenor, Ken Parker, with any suggestions or queries.
