Members of COTA Victoria and Seniors Rights Victoria today voted to adopt a new COTA Victoria Constitution, one that includes significant changes to the COTA Victoria Membership Framework.

While a larger explanation of changes can be found here, the successful vote means our members and supporters will soon be able to take advantage of a series of exciting changes to our membership services, benefits, and membership categories.

“Our previous Constitution was adopted by the Association’s members back in 2013 and no longer reflects current best governance practices,” said COTA Victoria President, Rob Caulfield.

“I’m pleased that our members voted today to modernise the Constitution and bring it in line with the current best practice.”

“On behalf of COTA Victoria and Seniors Rights Victoria, I thank all of our members who provided insightful feedback, thoughtful questions, and ultimately voted to adopt this new Constitution and Membership Framework,” added CEO Chris Potaris.

“I sincerely thank you all as we work together to represent the interests, opportunities, and legal rights for all Victorians aged over 50.”

One of the distinct focal points of the new COTA Victoria Membership Services Framework is the introduction of free individual membership for every older Victorian.

We will soon be in touch with current members, alongside those interested in free membership, to detail new processes and benefits. This will be followed by information on new organisational membership tiers catering to education, business, fellow not-for-profits, and government.

COTA Victoria and Seniors Rights Victoria would like to extend thanks to legal firm Maddocks for its pro bono support of our holistic review and update of the COTA Victoria Constitution. In particular, we express our gratitude to Maddocks Partner Ron Smooker and his team for their efficiency and expertise.
